So, a new year, fresh, shiny, unused. Hopefully it’ll be a better one than last, in particular at work, although I’m not sanguine on this point as for the past seven, eight months we’ve lurched from one crisis to another and right now, there’s another looming. But, all things considered I’m in a good place: I’ve got a roof over my head, money in the bank, food in the cupboard and no-one’s lobbing rockets at me. There are many others in this world would swap places with me in a heartbeat. Most importantly, I have my health, which for a man of my vintage is never a given. Sadly, for someone very dear to me, that’s currently not the case and if I could have just one wish for 2024, it would be that her health is restored. She’s borne it with great fortitude but I know it’s beginning to wear her down, and that upsets me greatly, for there’s nothing I can do but offer love and support in equal measure. She deserves so much better, and hopefully this will be that year: I hope so with all my heart and soul.
